Big Bad Con game schedule is up – Verify your badge today!

We’re super excited to have so many wonderful offerings this year. Over 180 scheduled events, and nearly 30 games in Games on Demand!

The game schedule is now built. You can see dates and times on the event listing, or you can see a visual depiction for each day here: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Important – Verify your Badge Today!

Game sign ups will go live on 9/12 at noon PST. Before then, it’s very important that you verify your badge to make sure you’ll be able to sign up when the booking opens.

Head over to the event called Verify your 2015 Big Bad Con badge, make sure you’re logged into the site, and click Book Now at the the bottom of the page. If you’re able to book this event, you’re badge is activated and your account is working as it should!

Some big changes in sign ups this year!

While The Wolf does like a good competition, he’s also heard the cry of the people. Many have requested that sign ups be limited in the first week to make sure that everyone, even the folks who can’t be frantically refreshing their browser pages at noon on Saturday, gets a chance to sign up for great games.

To facilitate this, we’ve created a quota this year. In the first week, all attendees will be limited to signing up for two events. After the first week, when everyone has had a chance to sign up for their top two, we’ll open the gates completely, and you’ll be able to sign up for as many events as you can cram in your schedule!

A few exceptions to note:

  • Events you’re running don’t count against your quota.
  • Some specific events (Verify your Badge, Treasure Trapped!, Wolf Chase, and Hacking as Women) don’t count against your quota either.

Still want to run a game?

Now that the schedule is built we’ve re-opened limited game submissions to accept games in the slots that still have room. Click here to run a game on the schedule or here to GM in Games on Demand.

We can’t wait for Big Bad Con this year. See you at the con!

Big Bad GM – The Biggest, Baddest GMs in the Land

Inspired by Iron GM, Big Bad GM pits four GMs against each other in a cage match that rocks the house.

Each contestant is randomly assigned four players and knows only that they must run a game using the Fate system. After that everything is uncertain…

Just as the competition starts, our judges reveal the secret ingredients. A genre, antagonist, and location. The GMs must brainstorm with the players, start them making characters and run a game using those secret ingredients all in four hours.

The entire experience is a blast for the GMs, players and judges alike.

What’s even better is that the players get to pick the contestants! Last year, based on the 200+ feedback forms received, we took the top rated GMs and invited them to participate this year. I’m happy to say all of them gladly accepted the challenge.

Last year the games were set in the Cyberpunk genre, located on the moon, with fairytale baddies as antagonists. I can’t wait to see what the judges roll up this year!

Big Bad Con 2012 Contestants:

Matt Steele. Terror Rabbit. Host of Dead of Winter. Big Bad Judge 2011. A force to be feared.

Mike Bogan

Mike Bogan. Winner of the EndGame GM Smackdown. Last year’s Big Bad GM contestant.

Mike Garcia. CEO of the Tower. Prop junkie. Scrappy underdog!

Scott White. MC Extraordinaire. Big Bad GM Rookie. Fresh Meat.

Private rooms at Big Bad Con!

Little Red clearly has mad negotiation skills that leave The Wolf in the dust. This year belongs to Red because she brought private rooms to the table!

We’re still keeping the board rooms for most games but the Hilton has offered us some of the guest rooms across the hall from the board rooms for RPGs. The great news is that it’s still on the same floor as everything else. Right in the middle of the action PLUS the seclusion you need for lighting, sound, and ambiance!

If you need a private room for your game, request it on the Run a Game page.

T-shirts here and gone!

Big Bad Con T-shirts came in today and fast as three pigs can run from a blown down house The Wolf shipped them off. If you ordered a shirt and aren’t doing will call (read: The Wolf handing it over in person) you should receive your Big Bad Swag soon!

Note: There is one order we didn’t get a name for. If you live on Irving Street in San Francisco and ordered a Men’s Medium Burgundy shirt, email thewolf@bigbaccon.con, tell him who you are and he’ll ship it off!

Doing Good!

The Wolf has rounded up all the bottles and cans of food as well as cold hard cash to make donations across the board. For the Alameda County Community Food bay we raised 230lbs of food, enough for 176 meals. For Doctors Without Borders we raised $505, the donation placed today!

Fancy certificates of appreciation form Doctors Without Borders coming soon!
